100 years. That’s a lot to celebrate.

The 100th Anniversary committee has been hard at work figuring out how to honor this exciting milestone. We, of course, want to celebrate all three pillars of our beloved organization: charity, theatre and community. Let’s take them in reverse order.

Community

A “Troupe” is fundamentally about people. We dedicate time because we love the work…but also because we love to play. Virtually no BHT member actually has the free time to put into the Troupe; we make the time because we want to.

All of that camaraderie deserves an amazing celebration, and we’re planning a weekend worthy of the occasion on May 17-19, 2024 for ALL Troupers, past and present.  If you’re planning to attend any portion of that event, please reserve your attendance now!!  Encourage those you know are coming to let us know, too.

WHO ELSE WILL BE THERE? Click the box marked “attendees” for a list of those paid and confirmed as of this week.  It will be updated weekly. ATTENDEES

A request! If you are a past Trouper with whom we’ve lost touch OR if you know people who have been active in the Blue Hill Troupe in the past but no longer are, we want to re-connect. Please email 100th@bht.org with names and email contacts of those we may have lost or missed.

We are also developing a book to commemorate our history. In addition to photos of our members, productions and social life from the very beginning through our 100th anniversary festivities, this book will share personal Troupe-centric stories.

Another request! If you have had an unforgettable Troupe moment or experience, we’d love to hear about it. Please share a brief description (50-150 words); selected stories will be developed into feature articles. Send your personal, transformational Troupe story to archives@bht.org.

Finally, if you are a ‘lapsed’ member who would like to re-activate your membership, there’s a special offer of $100 plus current year dues to get current. Simply PAY DUES here, and re-join the fun!

Theatre

Shows are always at the heart of the Troupe year. We started on the water in Blue Hill, Maine in 1924, so it’s only fitting that our 100th season should be at sea:

  • Fall 2023 – Anything Goes at Theatre at St. Jeans, November 3-11, 2023 (what an amazing smash hit it was, too!)
  • Spring 2024 – H.M.S. Pinafore at El Teatro at Museo del Barrio April 19-27, 2024
  • Fall 2024 – Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella at Theatre at St. Jeans, dates tbc (likely Nov 1-9, 2024)

Mark your calendars now! Plan theatre parties!  Bring your friends!  BUY PINAFORE TICKETS NOW!

Then we’re going to take the show on the road in the first week of August 2024…back to our roots in Blue Hill, Maine, hosted by and benefiting our 1924 partner that is also still going strong, Kneisel Hall Chamber Music School and Festival.

Charity

First and foremost, we raise money for charity. Throughout next year we will spotlight the impact we’ve had on New York City-based charities we’ve supported over the years.

We are excited and proud to support the Young People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC) as the charity partner for our 100th and 101st seasons. Visit them online at https://ypc.org/

While we are still in good touch with our charities from recent years, we don’t have great contacts at many that are further in our rearview mirror. Please take a look at our list of past charities HERE, and if you know someone currently on the staff of one (or more!), we’d love to speak with them. Just email charities@bht.org and let us know that you’re willing to make a [re]-introduction!
