The Blue Hill Troupe is proud to present our 98th season supporting New York charities with the proceeds of our family-friendly performances.  This year, we proudly present the satirical musical comedy, Urinetown: The Musical, and Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Sorcerer, for the benefit of LSA Family Health Service.

Urinetown: The Musical – November 6 – 14, 2021
will be performed at the Theater at St. Jean’s, 180 East 76th Street, New York City.

Urinetown: The Musical is a satirical musical comedy that premiered in 2001, with music by Mark Hollmann, lyrics by Hollmann and Greg Kotis, and book by Kotis. It satirizes the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, and municipal politics.  As relevant (and funny!) today as it was 20 years ago (perhaps more so).

Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Sorcerer – April 27 – 30, 2022
Six performances only at El Teatro of El Museo del Barrio, 1230 Fifth Avenue at 104th Street, New York City.

Magical mix-ups and mayhem ensue in Gilbert & Sullivan’s first full-length operetta, which features Sullivan’s most buoyant and festive score and giddy Upstairs/ Downstairs complications from Gilbert. Wishing his wedding guests to discover true love as he has, young Alexis Pointdextre hires a sorcerer to spike the tea at his engagement party with a powerful love potion. Alack! Every possible mishap occurs, and Alexis and the sorcerer must race against the clock to reverse the magic before wedding bells ring for the wrong lovers – including Alexis’ own betrothed! Will they succeed? Come find out!

Gilbert & Sullivan's The Sorcerer

Magical mix-ups and mayhem ensue in The Sorcerer, a giddy, ‘upstairs, downstairs’ confection of mismatched lovers and love potion-spiked tea. Blue Hill Troupe’s novel production presents Sullivan’s buoyant, festive score with the first-class musical values audiences have come to expect.
