Tom Fenaughty
Died March 26, 2021
Thomas J. Fenaughty’s love of theatre and music was obvious every moment of his life. Tom joined the Troupe as a Frontstager, and he was briefly active. But he was an ardent supporter and audience member, both of Troupe shows and of other shows that friends were part of. He was very much involved in theatre and performance throughout his many years in New York. Tom was an active member of The Actors Studio and participated in many theatre and concert productions, both amateur and professional.
He had at least three film credits: Anything But Love (2002), Alchimie (2002), and The Kiddush Man (2008).
After graduating from Ohio Wesleyan, and serving as a lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, he attended Columbia University, eventually obtaining a Ph.D. He then began a lifetime career as a professor, first at Columbia and subsequently at St. John’s University in New York.
Tom died peacefully at his home in Manhattan on March 26, 2021. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Marian “Tot” Geesman and Joanna Larkin, and a niece Sharon Geesman.
He is survived by two nephews and several grand-nephews and a grand-niece.
